Toy Story 5: Latest News, Cast, Release Date, and Everything We Know So Far
Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is set to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026, bringing back the franchise’s beloved toys for a story centered on the growing clash between classic playthings and modern technology. First announced in February 2023, the film continues the long-running series that began with Andy’s toys and later followed Bonnie’s.
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, joined once again by Joan Cusack as Jessie. Tim Allen has said the film places a major focus on Jessie and hinted that Woody and Buzz will reconnect in a significant way. He also described the opening sequence involving Buzz Lightyear as especially memorable, though he did not reveal details.
The returning cast also includes John Ratzenberger as Hamm, Wallace Shawn as Rex, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, Annie Potts as Bo Peep, Bonnie Hunt as Dolly, Melissa Villaseñor as Karen Beverly, Kristen Schaal as Trixie, and Keanu Reeves as Duke Caboom.
Several roles have been recast for the new film. Jeff Bergman voices Mr. Potato Head, Anna Vocino voices Mrs. Potato Head, John Hopkins voices Mr. Pricklepants, and Ernie Hudson takes over as Combat Carl. The new cast also introduces fresh voices and characters that expand the toy universe.
Among the new additions, Conan O’Brien voices Smarty Pants, Craig Robinson plays Atlas the GPS hippo toy, Shelby Rabara voices Snappy the camera toy, Scarlett Spears voices Bonnie, Mykal-Michelle Harris voices Blaze, a young girl who loves animals, and Matty Matheson plays Dr. Nutcase, a toy who fears technology. Greta Lee voices Lilypad, the film’s main antagonist, a tech tablet that represents the modern devices competing for children’s attention. Krys Marshall has also been cast in an adult role.
The central storyline of Toy Story 5 explores the tension between traditional toys and technology in an era when children increasingly engage with screens and digital devices. The film’s “toys versus tech” premise reflects one of the franchise’s most relevant contemporary themes, positioning Lilypad as the symbol of that conflict.
Andrew Stanton directs the latest installment, continuing the creative legacy of the Pixar series. The film also includes an original song by Taylor Swift, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You,” which she confirmed herself. The song reportedly draws on country influences and connects especially well with Jessie’s character.
A teaser and full trailer have already been released, giving audiences an early look at the new direction of the story. With its mix of returning favorites, new characters, and a timely theme about technology’s impact on childhood, Toy Story 5 is shaping up to be one of Pixar’s most anticipated releases.
