Pikachu Promo Cards and Plush Unveiled Ahead of Pokémon World Championships and PokémonXP Event

The Pokémon Company has revealed new promotional cards and event merchandise for the upcoming Pokémon World Championships and the debut of PokémonXP, giving fans the clearest preview yet of what will be offered at the August event in San Francisco. Announced at the end of the North America International Championships, the reveal includes three promo cards: Paradise Resort, Pikachu, and Rayquaza.
Paradise Resort will be reserved exclusively for players who compete at the event. The Pikachu promo card will be available both at the event itself and through local Play! Pokémon events, expanding access beyond attendees in San Francisco. A stamped Rayquaza card will be distributed to all attendees of the Pokémon World Championships and PokémonXP, making it one of the most widely available collectibles tied to this year’s celebration.
The company also unveiled the Welcome Kit that competitors will receive when they sign up to play. The kit includes a backpack, playmat, sleeves, a T-shirt, a hat, and additional merchandise designed around the World Championships branding. The package is intended to give participants themed gear tied to the annual tournament and to mark their involvement in the event.
In addition to the cards and kit, The Pokémon Company highlighted two new Pikachu plush toys. One is themed to the Pokémon World Championships and shows Pikachu wearing a crown and cape. The other is themed to PokémonXP and presents Pikachu in a space suit. Both plush items are part of the wider merchandise lineup that will be sold or distributed around the event.
This year’s gathering is notable not only for the return of the Pokémon World Championships, but also for the first-ever PokémonXP. The Pokémon Company describes PokémonXP as an official fan convention running alongside the championships. While the World Championships will remain focused on competition, PokémonXP is designed for fan-oriented activities such as panels, signings, and other community events.
The Pokémon World Championships and PokémonXP are scheduled to take place in San Francisco from August 28 to 20, according to the announcement. Together, the two events will combine elite competitive play with broader fan experiences, offering attendees a mix of exclusive giveaways, themed merchandise, and special appearances.
