Alex Cooper Addresses Rumors of Marital Issues With Matt Kaplan Amid Pregnancy

Alex Cooper has denied rumors that she and her husband, Matt Kaplan, are experiencing marriage trouble. The “Call Her Daddy” host addressed the speculation during her podcast episode on Wednesday, saying that people on the internet wrongly assumed the couple was “on the rocks” after their red carpet appearance at the 2026 YouTube Upfront last month. Cooper explained that the pair were actually trying to hide her pregnancy at the event, and she said she was relieved the public focused on their facial expressions and supposed relationship issues instead of noticing a baby bump.
Cooper, 31, said the reaction online was strange because no one close to the couple, including friends and family, believed there were problems. She emphasized that she and Kaplan, 42, are doing well and described the rumors as a frustrating part of being in the public eye. Cooper also joked that, from her perspective, the attention on their “miserable” appearance was a win because it distracted from her pregnancy.
The rumors began after the couple’s May 13 appearance at the YouTube Upfront, where some observers speculated that they looked unhappy together. Later, The Daily Mail reported that the couple was dealing with tension and sleeping in separate bedrooms. That report followed a Bloomberg story in April that said Kaplan had been accused of berating staff at Unwell Network, the production company he shares with Cooper. The claims added to public attention around the couple, but neither Cooper nor Kaplan responded publicly at the time.
Cooper and Kaplan married in Mexico in April 2024. Despite the swirl of speculation, Cooper made it clear on her podcast that there was no marital crisis and that fans should not worry about her relationship. She said the couple is “great,” dismissing the gossip that suggested otherwise.
Days after the rumors intensified, Cooper announced on May 17 that she was pregnant with her first child. She posted photos on Instagram showing her baby bump and captioned them “Our family 🤍.” The announcement confirmed what many fans had not yet known, and it shifted attention away from the speculation about her marriage. In her latest comments, Cooper made clear that the online chatter had no basis in reality and that the marriage rumors were just another example of the internet overanalyzing a public couple.
