Where Is Shia LaBeouf Now? What the Actor Is Doing Today

Shia LaBeouf, once one of the most prominent young stars of the 2000s, has seen his career move through major Hollywood success, public controversy and a recent return to the headlines. After beginning as a child actor in Holes and rising to fame on Disney Channel’s Even Stevens, he went on to star in large-scale films including the Transformers series, Fury, Indiana Jones and Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. Alongside his acting career, LaBeouf also pursued other creative work, including graphic novels and experimental stage projects.

His personal life has frequently drawn public attention. LaBeouf married actress Mia Goth in 2016 after dating since 2012, separated in 2018, and later reconciled before reportedly splitting again in 2025. He was also involved in relationships with FKA Twigs and Margaret Qualley. FKA Twigs later filed a lawsuit accusing him of sexual battery, assault and emotional distress. LaBeouf denied the allegations but publicly apologized for his past conduct, saying he had been abusive to himself and others. The case was settled out of court in 2025.

In recent years, LaBeouf has worked more quietly, taking on smaller and more demanding projects rather than major studio films. His recent credits included the boxing drama Salvable in 2025 and the World War II film Angel of Death, which he was writing and acting in. He also appeared in the 2025 documentary Slauson Rec, which focused on his experimental theater collective. In 2021, his former agency, Creative Artists Agency, said he had stepped away from the industry to seek inpatient help and support.

LaBeouf also made headlines for a major personal shift when he was confirmed into the Catholic Church on December 31, 2023. A Capuchin Franciscan Facebook post said he had entered the church through the sacrament of confirmation, and reports later said he was considering becoming a deacon. However, he has not publicly confirmed that path.

In December 2025, he briefly returned to public appearances by attending Steel City Con and speaking with fans about his career. But his comeback was overshadowed in 2026 by renewed legal trouble. In February 2026, he was arrested in New Orleans following an alleged Mardi Gras confrontation. Police said the incident involved an altercation at a bar and led to multiple battery charges, a $100,000 bond, and court-ordered rehabilitation and weekly testing. He was later taken into custody again on an additional simple battery charge linked to the same case.

In interviews, LaBeouf has acknowledged that his behavior was wrong, while also saying traditional rehab may not be the right solution for him. He has spoken about anger, ego and sobriety struggles, saying he had not been sober for about nine months. In March 2026, footage published by TMZ showed him shouting at a woman in Rome. Then, in June 2026, LaBeouf pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery charges tied to the New Orleans bar dispute and was sentenced to two years’ probation, alcohol abuse rehabilitation, sensitivity training and anger management classes.
