Alexis Bledel Makes Rare Public Appearance in New York City

Alexis Bledel made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, June 6, stepping out on the red carpet at New York City’s Village East Cinema to support the world premiere of her new film, Ponderosa. The former Gilmore Girls star, 44, wore a golden top with a cutout collar and bow, paired with a knee-length black skirt and matching pumps, and appeared alongside writer-director Rob Rice and co-star Jack Dylan Grazer.
Ponderosa is described as a horror-comedy about a young man, played by Grazer, who tries to deal with an unusual older man determined to become his stepfather after the young man’s mother loses her job at a local buffet. The cast also includes Bill Camp. The film marks Bledel’s first movie role since the 2019 crime thriller Crypto, though she has appeared occasionally on television in The Handmaid’s Tale, where she played Emily until 2025.
Bledel’s Tribeca appearance comes after an even more notable public moment in September 2025, when she reunited with Gilmore Girls co-star Lauren Graham at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards. The pair appeared onstage to mark the 25th anniversary of the beloved series, which first premiered in 2000 and ran for seven seasons until 2007 before returning for the 2016 Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Their Emmy segment was staged on a replica of the Stars Hollow set and drew attention from longtime fans of the show.
During the Emmy reunion, Graham joked about the show’s impact, saying that when Gilmore Girls premiered 25 years ago it “took the season of fall hostage.” The two actresses also looked back on the production’s famously limited budget and the creative ways the cast handled catering. Graham recalled that leftovers from another nearby production sometimes made their way to the Gilmore Girls set, while Bledel jokingly said they looked hungry. The reunion highlighted the quick-fire dialogue that defined the series and made it a cultural favorite.
After their onstage appearance, Bledel and Graham presented the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series to Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez for The Studio.
Before the 2025 Emmy Awards, Bledel had largely stayed out of the public eye. Her last major event before that was the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 32nd Annual Academy Awards Viewing Party in March 2024. In the early 2020s, she remained mostly absent from Hollywood events, aside from attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2020 and joining a Zoom interview on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in May 2021, where she reflected on the legacy of Gilmore Girls.
Bledel’s Tribeca appearance signals a rare return to the spotlight as she promotes Ponderosa and continues a selective, low-profile approach to public life and acting.
