’70s TV Star Spotted in Rare Outing Decades After Leaving Hollywood
Eric Scott, best known for his role on the beloved 1970s television series The Waltons, was recently seen during a rare public outing in California. According to photos published by the Daily Mail, the longtime former actor kept a casual, low-profile look while walking around Los Angeles, wearing dark denim jeans and a white Los Angeles Dodgers World Series T-shirt. He was photographed smiling for paparazzi, offering fans a glimpse of the familiar face years after he largely stepped away from Hollywood.
Scott became widely known for appearing on The Waltons, which ended in 1981 after becoming a staple of American television. Although he remained in the entertainment industry for a period of time after the series ended, his acting career gradually slowed. He has previously explained that he expected to continue getting roles, but when that did not happen, he decided he needed a more stable way to earn a living. He eventually moved into sales and later worked for a delivery company, leaving his Hollywood career behind.
Despite the success and popularity of The Waltons, Scott has said that the cast did not become wealthy from the show. In a 2017 interview with Closer Weekly, he said the series was loved by audiences but that the studio did not seem to value the actors as much as fans did. He also noted that the show did not make the cast rich, challenging the assumption that long-running television success automatically brings financial security.
After The Waltons, Scott continued acting for a while and appeared in roughly a dozen additional roles during the 1980s and 1990s. His final credited project in the entertainment business came in 2001. By the 2000s, he had moved into a different professional life and took over Chase Messengers, a parcel delivery service based in Encino, California.
Now in his 60s, Scott still carries some of the recognizable features that made him familiar to television audiences decades ago, including a touch of red hair and the easy Hollywood smile remembered by Waltons fans. His recent sighting underscores how the actors from classic television can remain a point of public interest long after their most famous work has ended. For many viewers, seeing Scott again brings back memories of a series that left a lasting mark on American pop culture.
