Mahershala Ali’s “Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother” Set for Fall Release
Orion Pictures has set a theatrical release for Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, the new drama starring two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. The film will open in New York and Los Angeles on September 25, before expanding to additional theaters on October 2 and October 9.
Written, directed and produced by Bassam Tariq, the film centers on Latif, a deeply religious hitman who is trying to reconcile his dangerous profession with his faith and his role as a father. After the death of his wife, Latif is forced into a desperate cross-city journey through Houston to protect his children. As he struggles to keep his family safe, he must also confront the outside forces closing in on him and the internal beliefs that threaten to break him apart.
Ali leads a cast that includes John Cho, Abubakr Ali, Laith Nakli, Tramell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, Giancarlo Esposito and Adia. The film was produced by Lucan Toh and Babak Anvari, along with Tariq.
The release places the film in a crowded late-September marketplace. Other titles debuting on September 25 include Bleecker Street’s Cannes selection Victorian Psycho, Paramount’s David Ayer-directed Brad Pitt action film Heart of the Beast, Disney’s re-release of Avengers: Endgame and Universal’s animated comedy Forgotten Island.
Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother adds another high-profile role to Ali’s filmography, pairing him with Tariq on a character-driven story that blends crime, faith and family drama. The film’s rollout begins in the two major U.S. markets before widening in the following weeks, positioning it for a gradual theatrical expansion.
