Liam Gallagher Reacts to Oasis Being Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
Liam Gallagher has softened his long-running hostility toward the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after Oasis was finally voted in for the 2026 class, following previous nominations in 2024 and 2025. Gallagher had repeatedly mocked the institution online, dismissing it in harsh language and suggesting he wanted nothing to do with what he called an undeserving award. But after the latest announcement, his tone changed dramatically.
In a post shared after the 2026 inductees were revealed, Gallagher thanked the people who voted for Oasis and said it was an “honour” to be recognized. He added that, since childhood, he had dreamed of one day being in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, framing the moment as proof that “anything is possible if you have a dream.” The comment marked a sharp contrast to his earlier attitude, which had been openly contemptuous and dismissive.
Gallagher later expanded on his new stance in a reply to a user asking about the change in perspective. He joked that he had spoken with his mother the night the news broke and that she believed he may have been too harsh in judging the organization. According to Gallagher, she told him to “stop being a dick,” attend the ceremony, behave himself, and see whether he might actually enjoy the experience. In another exchange, when a user reminded him of his previous insult that the Hall of Fame was “made for wankers,” Gallagher answered, “It was until last night.”
Oasis joins a 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class that also includes Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan. The announcement follows a period in which Gallagher had made clear he saw little value in the honor, even joking that if Oasis were inducted he would “obviously” attend and claim it was the best thing ever. That joke now appears to have become reality, at least in spirit, as he has moved from ridicule to reluctant enthusiasm.
The ceremony is scheduled for November 14, with television coverage set to air on ABC and Disney+ in December. For Oasis fans, the induction closes a long-running chapter of tension between the band and the Hall of Fame, while Gallagher’s reactions have added an extra layer of drama to the news. What began as outspoken rejection has turned into a lighthearted acceptance, reflecting both his trademark irreverence and the significance of Oasis finally receiving the recognition.
