HBO Star, 43, Addresses Rumors That Her Hit Series Is Being Rebooted
Anna Camp has weighed in on the long-running rumors of a possible True Blood reboot, saying she would welcome a return to the HBO supernatural drama and believes her character could still have a future. Speaking at MPTF’s 2026 NextGen Summer Party on May 31, Camp said a revival would be “cool” and described the series as a family-like set filled with memorable storylines and strong bonds among the cast.
Camp joined True Blood in season 2 as Sarah Newlin and later returned for seasons 6 and 7. She said she remains in touch with many of her former co-stars, including Stephen Moyer, who played Bill Compton, and Carrie Preston, whom she recently worked with again on Elsbeth. Camp said that whenever cast members run into one another, emotions often surface because of how meaningful the experience was for everyone involved. She added that she hopes the reboot rumors are true.
The actress also noted that Sarah Newlin is “not dead,” leaving open the possibility that the character could return if the series were revived. Camp first discussed her role in a 2009 interview, saying she enjoyed playing Sarah because the character offered both comedy and dramatic material. She explained that it was easy to be funny while working with a strong ensemble and said she liked the challenge of moving between humorous and serious scenes. She credited the writers for giving her varied material to play.
True Blood, which aired on HBO from 2008 to 2014, was based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries novels by Charlaine Harris. The series followed Sookie Stackhouse, played by Anna Paquin, and became known for its mix of romance, horror, and dark humor. The show built a devoted fan base during its run and remains widely remembered for its bold storylines and ensemble cast.
The series is currently streaming on HBO Max, keeping it accessible to new viewers while fueling continued interest in a possible revival. Camp’s comments add fresh momentum to speculation about whether True Blood could make a comeback, especially given her close connection to the cast and her openness to revisiting the role that introduced Sarah Newlin to fans.
