Big Ranking Shake-Up Before the T20 World Cup: Legendary Star Loses No. 1 Spot — Find Out Who’s on Top

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin in three days, with the opening match scheduled for June 12 between England and Sri Lanka. India will start its campaign against Pakistan on June 14 at 7:00 pm IST. Ahead of the tournament, the ICC has updated its latest player rankings, bringing a major change in the women’s T20 all-rounder list.
New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr has climbed to No. 1 in the T20 all-rounder rankings, moving up from second place. She now leads the chart with 478 rating points after her unbeaten 51-run knock against Bangladesh on June 6, which boosted her position. West Indies star Hayley Matthews, who had been holding the top spot, has slipped to second place with 473 rating points. India’s Deepti Sharma remains steady in fifth place in the same category.
In the batting rankings, the top five players remain unchanged. Australia’s Georgia Voll continues to lead the chart with 815 rating points. India’s Smriti Mandhana is the only Indian batter in the top five, staying at fifth place with 740 rating points. The ranking table shows stability among the leading batters ahead of the global event.
India’s bowling rankings, however, show no Indian player in the top five of the ICC Women’s T20 bowling list. England’s Linsey Smith remains at No. 1, while Pakistan’s Sadia Iqbal is in second place. India’s Shree Charani has dropped three positions and now sits in eighth place, reflecting a setback in the latest update.
The rankings update comes just before the start of one of the biggest tournaments in women’s cricket. New Zealand will begin its World Cup campaign against West Indies, and Amelia Kerr will enter the competition as the newly crowned No. 1 T20 all-rounder. For India, attention will be on how its key players perform against Pakistan in the opening match and whether they can improve their standing as the tournament progresses.
The updated ICC rankings underline the competitive landscape heading into the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, with New Zealand and West Indies dominating the all-rounder conversation, Australia leading the batting charts, and England and Pakistan occupying the top spots among bowlers. India, meanwhile, remains well represented in batting and all-rounder lists, but will look to strengthen its bowling presence during the tournament.
