Owain Rhys Davies, the Welsh actor known for his roles in Twin Peaks: The Return and The OA, has died at the age of 44. His brother, Rhodri Davies, announced the news in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, saying the family was devastated by the loss. He wrote that he and their father were sharing the news with “profound sadness” and said there are still unanswered questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Despite the uncertainty, Rhodri said the family understands that Owain “passed suddenly, naturally, and peacefully.” He also thanked friends, colleagues, and fans for the many messages of support they have received, describing the response as deeply moving and proof of the impact Owain had on the people around him.
In his tribute, Rhodri remembered Owain for his love, generosity, and friendship. He said Owain was part of more than one family, noting the close bonds he built with friends, co-workers, and loved ones over the years. He added that while Owain was his brother by blood, he was also “a brother to so many others,” and said the family takes comfort in knowing how deeply he was loved.
Rhodri said more information about Owain’s passing and funeral arrangements would be shared later, but asked for privacy as the family tries to come to terms with the loss.
