No. 12 Aggies Open College Station Regional Against Lamar

No. 12 Texas A&M opens its NCAA postseason run Friday at 3 p.m. against Lamar in the first game of the College Station Regional at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The game will air on SEC Network and be available locally on 1150 AM/93.7 The Zone, with live updates also available on X at @AggieBaseball.
The Aggies enter the NCAA Tournament as the No. 12 national seed after finishing the regular season 39-14 overall and 18-11 in SEC play, placing third in the conference. Texas A&M is hosting a regional for the 14th time and is making its 39th NCAA Tournament appearance.
Friday’s opponent, Lamar, arrives with a 34-25 record. The matchup will be the 47th all-time meeting between the programs, with Texas A&M holding a 38-8 series advantage. The Aggies defeated Lamar 25-5 in their most recent meeting on February 24.
Left-hander Shane Sdao is expected to start for Texas A&M. It will be his 13th start of the season and third postseason start of his career. Sdao has logged 68.0 innings this year and leads the team with 78 strikeouts. He also earned the win in Texas A&M’s College Station Regional clincher in 2024 against Louisiana, when he threw 5.1 innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts.
The College Station Regional also includes USC and Texas State. Texas A&M is 3-4 all-time against USC and won the most recent meeting in 2024. Against Texas State, the Aggies are 50-16 all-time after splitting a home-and-home midweek series this season.
Texas A&M’s offense has been among the nation’s most productive, ranking inside the top 15 nationally in slugging percentage at .567, home runs with 114, scoring at 9.0 runs per game, on-base percentage at .421 and total runs scored with 477. On the mound, the Aggies rank eighth nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio at 3.14 and second in walks allowed per nine innings at 2.95.
