Predators Acquire Ross Colton and Goaltender Isak Posch From Colorado

The Nashville Predators announced on June 16, 2026, that they have acquired forward Ross Colton and goaltender Isak Posch from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Nashville’s own third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, Colorado’s own third-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft that had previously been transferred to Nashville in an earlier deal, and goaltender Magnus Chrona. The move adds a veteran winger and a young goaltending prospect to Nashville’s organization.
Predators President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Chris MacFarland said the team is excited to bring in Colton, describing him as a versatile, two-way winger who will add physicality and toughness to the middle of the lineup. Colton, 29, appeared in 73 games for Colorado during the 2025-26 season and finished with 24 points, including nine goals and 15 assists, while posting a plus-9 rating. He also recorded 153 shots and 159 hits, which ranked third on the Avalanche last season. Over six NHL seasons, Colton has scored 89 goals and has built a reputation as a reliable, energetic forward.
Colton enjoyed the best offensive season of his career in 2023-24, when he posted 40 points with 17 goals and 23 assists. He has also contributed in the postseason, registering 28 points in 75 career Stanley Cup Playoff games. He has qualified for the playoffs in each of his six NHL seasons and has experience as a Stanley Cup champion, helping the Tampa Bay Lightning win the title in 2020-21 with six points in 23 playoff games. Tampa Bay originally selected Colton in the fourth round of the 2016 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut on Feb. 24, 2021, and scored the game-winning goal in a 3-0 win over Carolina, becoming the second player in Lightning history to score a game-winner in his debut.
Before reaching the NHL, Colton played for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the USHL, the University of Vermont, and the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.
Posch, a young goaltender from Umea, Sweden, spent parts of the past two seasons with the Colorado Eagles, Colorado’s AHL affiliate. In 2025-26, he posted a 15-8-4 record with two shutouts, a 2.78 goals-against average and an .891 save percentage. He was also selected for the 2026 AHL All-Star Classic for the Pacific Division, underscoring his development as a promising netminder. MacFarland said Posch is a big goalie who adds to Nashville’s depth at the position.
The trade gives Nashville added scoring depth, physical play and future goaltending depth as the Predators continue to shape their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season.
