Zlatan Ibrahimović Doesn’t Need Alexi Lalas, Lie Detector Test Reveals

Zlatan Ibrahimović, the former Sweden star and FOX Sports Soccer analyst, appeared on FOX’s “After Hours with James Corden” and took a lie detector test that delivered a mix of playful truths and sharp denials. The segment leaned into Ibrahimović’s trademark confidence and humor, using the test to probe his opinions about himself, fellow FOX Sports personalities, and some of soccer’s biggest names.
Among the statements the lie detector said were false, Ibrahimović was not telling the truth when he claimed to be the “most handsome” man to ever play in the FIFA World Cup. The test also indicated that his well-known self-confidence is not merely a mask for his true personality, and that he does not truly respect the opinions of all FOX Sports soccer analysts. The exchange created lighthearted tension, especially with FOX commentators Alexi Lalas and Thierry Henry, both of whom were targeted by Ibrahimović’s jokes.
At the same time, Ibrahimović made several bold claims that the test reportedly found to be true. He said a FOX Sports soccer panel made up of four Zlatans would be better than a panel including Lalas, Henry, Rebecca Lowe, and himself. He also stated that he considers himself a better player than Henry, Norway’s Erling Haaland, and England’s Harry Kane. The comments added to his long-standing reputation for swagger and self-belief, while also generating more banter at the expense of his colleagues and rivals.
The test also touched on more personal and off-field topics. Ibrahimović admitted he does not tip 20% in the United States, said he had not Googled himself in the past week, and acknowledged that he still has not fully moved past his 2010 feud with former manager Pep Guardiola. On a more positive note, he said he genuinely enjoyed his time playing in Major League Soccer with the LA Galaxy from 2018 to 2019.
The appearance ended with another headline-making moment when Ibrahimović admitted that being on air with James Corden is “beneath” him, a comment that fit his larger-than-life persona and the tongue-in-cheek tone of the segment. After the test, Henry, Lalas and Lowe reacted to Ibrahimović’s answers, while Ibrahimović insisted it was “all love.”
He also offered a few compliments to keep the mood playful, telling Lowe, “You look great,” calling Henry “sharp,” and joking, “Alexi … we can discuss.” Lowe responded by giving Ibrahimović a practical challenge of her own, asking him to toss to a commercial break as a test of his anchor skills.
The segment highlighted the chemistry between Ibrahimović and the FOX Sports crew, mixing humor, ego, and banter in a format built for entertainment.
