Will Smith’s Ex-Wife Files Million-Dollar Lawsuit Against His Former Friend

Will Smith’s former friend Bilaal Salaam is facing another legal battle, this time from Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino. In a lawsuit filed on May 27 in Los Angeles County, Zampino accuses Salaam of slander and claims he made false and damaging statements about her during an appearance on the YouTube show Unwine with Tasha K. She is seeking more than $1 million in damages.

According to the complaint, Salaam allegedly described Zampino as promiscuous and made repeated offensive remarks about her in the interview. Zampino says the comments were later amplified across social media and caused serious harm to her reputation and emotional well-being. The filing also references a teaser released on May 4 that reportedly promoted the segment with a claim that she had been “sleeping with everyone in Hollywood.” Zampino says Salaam either knew the accusations were false or acted with reckless disregard for the truth.

Her lawsuit argues that she was dragged into Salaam’s ongoing conflict with Will Smith and unfairly caught in the middle of his feud with the actor. Zampino says the alleged comments were not only humiliating but also intentionally harmful, leaving her to deal with lasting personal and professional damage.

The new case comes shortly after Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife, won a legal victory in her own dispute with Salaam. A court reportedly ordered Salaam to pay $32,836 in legal fees connected to his 2025 lawsuit against Jada, in which he claimed she caused him emotional distress and threatened him. The court also dismissed some of his claims.

In that earlier case, Salaam alleged that his conflict with Jada led to weight gain, the loss of a romantic relationship, and a period in which he left the United States because he feared for his safety. Jada pushed back, saying he had no evidence to support those allegations. Her legal team argued that the claims were not backed by medical records or other independent proof and sought to have the case dismissed under California’s anti-SLAPP law, which is designed to quickly remove weak lawsuits tied to protected speech.

Jada’s side also pointed to Salaam’s media interviews, where he made serious allegations about Will Smith without proof, and argued that his statements were aimed at attracting attention and targeting the family.

The Smith family also recently saw another courtroom win in a separate case. In a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Will Smith by violinist Brian Joseph, a judge ruled on May 5 that the complaint did not meet the legal threshold because it failed to show conduct that was severe or pervasive. Joseph had accused Smith of grooming him for sexual activity, but the court found the evidence insufficient and noted that Joseph could not prove only Smith or his team had access to the hotel room in question.

The latest lawsuit adds another layer to the ongoing legal drama involving Salaam and the Smith family, with both Zampino and Jada now alleging that his claims have caused harm and crossed legal boundaries.
