Spencer Pratt Says Two Major Hollywood Stars Back His Mayoral Run

Spencer Pratt has said that two major Hollywood figures privately backed his run for mayor of Los Angeles, claiming that Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie Foxx both supported his campaign in a conversation with Us Weekly. Pratt told the magazine that the actors supposedly told him, “Please, Mr. Mayor, we want these streets safe again,” and added that he had witnesses who could confirm the exchange if their representatives denied it. Us Weekly reported that DiCaprio’s team did deny any endorsement, saying the actor had not publicly or privately supported Pratt.

Pratt, known for his role on The Hills, launched his mayoral bid in January after losing his home in the Pacific Palisades fires, which devastated parts of Los Angeles and destroyed thousands of homes. He has repeatedly blamed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Governor Gavin Newsom for their response to the disaster. Pratt has presented his campaign as a response to public safety concerns and the broader state of the city.

His wife, Heidi Montag, has been one of his most visible supporters. Pratt said she remains fully behind him and often tells him that God has a purpose for his life. The couple has been married since 2009 and shares two children, Gunner and Ryker.

Pratt has also cited other celebrity supporters, including Paris Hilton, Jenny McCarthy, David Foster, Joe Rogan and Dennis Quaid. He has emphasized that his campaign is nonpartisan, even though he is registered as a Republican. Pratt says he considers himself a centrist and describes his platform as common sense rather than party politics. He argued that many of his supporters in Los Angeles are Democrats and that he represents the whole city.

At the same time, his campaign has drawn criticism from several liberal-leaning celebrities. The combination of his Republican affiliation and his reality TV background has led some commentators to compare him to Donald Trump. Chelsea Handler mocked the idea of a former reality star with no government experience running for office, while Lisa Rinna said she would not support another reality star as mayor. Jimmy Kimmel also criticized Pratt on his show, suggesting he is more interested in fame than in the responsibilities of city government and calling him an attention-seeker.

The comments reflect how Pratt’s campaign has become a celebrity-driven political spectacle, with endorsements, denials, and public criticism all fueling attention around his bid. Whether his claims of private support from stars like DiCaprio and Foxx are accurate or not, the race has already placed him squarely in the middle of a broader debate over celebrity politics, public safety, and who should lead Los Angeles.
