Romulo Arantes Neto’s brief appearance in Quem Ama Cuida ended on Saturday, the 23rd, just one week after his debut in Globo’s primetime soap opera. His quick exit was not caused by any backstage issue or sudden casting change. The actor’s character, Pituxo, was designed from the start as a short participation tied to a specific part of the story.
In the plot by Walcyr Carrasco and Claudia Souto, Pituxo was introduced as part of Brigitte’s storyline, played by Tata Werneck. He appeared as Brigitte’s ex-boyfriend and helped establish, from the early episodes, her obsessive and uncontrollable behavior. His role was to trigger this side of the character and speed up the development of her storyline.
As the story progresses, Brigitte is expected to become even more aligned with her mother Pilar’s schemes. The character, played by Isabel Teixeira, will gain greater importance in the unfolding drama and in the family’s growing conflict.
Pituxo became the target of a series of humiliations and stalking-like actions carried out by Brigitte, who refuses to accept the end of their relationship. Among the scenes shown, she locked him outside on the apartment balcony wearing only underwear, scattered glitter around the house, installed a camera to keep watch from a distance, and created a fake profile to send anonymous messages to him.
These events turned Pituxo into a kind of comic victim within the soap opera. Even though the situation is serious in nature, Tata Werneck’s performance gives the character a lighter tone, shifting the storyline away from pure drama and into a more humorous register.
Romulo Arantes Neto said he was hired only for the opening phase of the novela, but he did not rule out returning if the production later calls him back. For now, no additional scenes featuring his character are planned.
