Radney Foster Cancels Upcoming Shows After Serious Infection Sends Country Star to ICU

Country singer Radney Foster has rescheduled several upcoming performances after being hospitalized for a serious infection, according to a statement posted Wednesday on his official Instagram account. The post said the 66-year-old artist is improving and has been released from the ICU, but doctors advised him to step away from touring and focus on recovery. The affected shows, including dates with Kelly Willis, will be moved, and fans were directed to contact venues for details about the new schedule.
The announcement prompted an immediate wave of support from fans on social media, with many sending well wishes and hoping for a full recovery. Foster’s team thanked supporters for their patience and understanding as the singer takes time off the road.
Foster first rose to prominence in the 1980s as one half of the country duo Foster & Lloyd, which he formed with songwriter Bill Lloyd. The duo earned attention with songs such as “Crazy Over You” and “What Do You Want From Me This Time.” After the group split in 1990, Foster launched a solo career and went on to record a number of well-known tracks, including “Just Call Me Lonesome,” “Nobody Wins,” “Easier Said Than Done,” and “Hammer and Nails.”
Beyond his own recordings, Foster has built a reputation as a prolific songwriter whose work has been recorded by major country artists including Keith Urban, Sara Evans, The Chicks, Brooks & Dunn, and Jack Ingram. His catalog has made him a respected figure in Nashville and in the broader country music community.
Foster’s health-related postponements come amid a recent run of last-minute concert cancellations and reschedulings among country artists due to illness. In April, LeAnn Rimes also postponed multiple shows while recovering from a severe illness. She told fans via Instagram Stories that she was unable to travel or perform that week and said the affected concerts in Spokane and Seattle would be rescheduled.
Rimes later assured ticket holders that all tickets would remain valid for the new dates and that refunds would be available through the original point of purchase for those unable to attend. She also thanked fans for their support and said she looked forward to returning to the stage once recovered.
For Foster, the immediate priority is recovery. While no further details about his condition have been released, the statement made clear that the decision to reschedule was made on medical advice and with his long-term health in mind. Fans can expect updated tour information from the venues as new dates are arranged.
