Toy Story 5: Cast, Release Date and Everything to Know

Toy Story 5 is set to bring Pixar’s iconic characters back to theaters for another adventure, with Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the toy gang facing a new challenge in Bonnie’s world. The film centers on Bonnie, who is struggling to make friends in real life after receiving a smart device from her parents, a storyline that reflects modern concerns about children, technology, and the meaning of play. Joan Cusack, who voices Jessie, said the movie explores humanity, loyalty, and the importance of play, and described it as an emotional story that made her cry.
The cast of Toy Story 5 includes returning stars Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Cusack as Jessie. Greta Lee joins the film as Lilypad, a children’s tablet that becomes part of Bonnie’s world. Disney also announced that Bad Bunny will make a voice cameo as “Pizza with Sunglasses,” a cool and mysterious toy who belongs to a group of forgotten toys living in an abandoned backyard shed. Alan Cumming is also part of the ensemble as Evil Bullseye, providing Bullseye’s voice during a comedic playtime sequence.
The film has also drawn attention because of Taylor Swift’s involvement. On June 1, Swift confirmed that she wrote an original song for Toy Story 5 titled “I Knew It, I Knew You.” The track was co-written and co-produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff. Swift said she had long dreamed of writing for the Toy Story characters and said she fell in love with the film after seeing it in its early stages. She shared that she wrote the song soon after leaving the screening and described the project as something she instantly connected with. The song will be released on June 5, with CD single, acoustic, and piano versions available for pre-order through her website.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 19. The release date has added extra significance for Swift fans, as it falls on the same day her debut single, “Tim McGraw,” was released 20 years earlier. With a familiar cast, new characters, and a storyline focused on technology and childhood, the next Toy Story installment is shaping up to be one of Pixar’s most anticipated releases.
