Potato-Shaped UFO Reported Over Mountains in the U.S.; See Details

The U.S. Department of War has released declassified FBI records involving an unidentified flying object sighting in Colorado that was described as having a potato-like shape. The case, which the department says dates to 2022, remains officially unresolved. According to the newly disclosed material, the image highlighted in the file is a visual representation of a narrative description provided to the FBI rather than a direct photograph of the object itself.
The report says the object appeared white or nearly white, with a matte finish and a surface marked by intersecting lines that formed an abstract, polygon-like pattern. The witness described the object as motionless and said it made no sound. The record was included in the third batch of files released under the Pursuit program, a presidential system for opening and reporting on UAP encounters. The program was created to locate, review, identify, declassify, and publicly release historical records and documents related to unidentified flying objects that are held by the U.S. federal government.
The Department of War says unresolved cases are those in which the government cannot determine the nature of the object, often because of missing or insufficient data. The department said it collects such cases for further analysis, information gathering, and expert review. A note in the FBI document states that the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office contacted the witness for additional interviews, which will support further analysis of the incident.
On the department’s website, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the administration is committed to unprecedented transparency regarding the government’s understanding of unidentified anomalous phenomena. He said the long-classified files had fueled speculation for years and that the latest release shows the Trump administration’s commitment to making the records public. The department also said it will continue releasing reports and will publish separate reports for cases that have been resolved, as required by law.
The disclosure comes alongside another case from July 2025, when an eyewitness in the northeastern United States reported seeing bright lights in a backyard around 9 p.m. local time after returning home from work. According to the account, the light hovered about 7.5 meters above the ground beneath a row of trees near the center of the yard, roughly 27 meters away. The witness briefly stepped out of the vehicle, prompting a companion to also go outside and examine the scene. Both incidents are part of the growing public record of UAP-related files being released by the U.S. government.
