Katy Perry to Perform at FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles

Katy Perry helped launch the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a high-energy performance at the opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on June 12, ahead of the U.S. men’s national team’s match against Paraguay. She performed alongside a star-studded lineup that included Tyla, Future, Anitta, LISA and Rema, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

Perry appeared on stage in a silver sequin gown by Stella McCartney and performed a duet of her 2024 song “Wonder” with 10-year-old singer Tius. The pair sang and danced as flags from multiple nations were waved around them, adding to the international spirit of the event. Perry ended the performance by lifting Tius into her arms as both smiled to the audience.

The singer had announced her participation in the ceremony on Instagram on May 8, expressing excitement about performing at the FIFA World Cup opening in Los Angeles. Her appearance came shortly after she made a red carpet debut with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, adding to the public attention surrounding her recent appearances.

The Los Angeles celebration was part of a broader World Cup kickoff, which, for the first time in FIFA World Cup history, included three opening ceremonies. The first took place in Mexico City on June 11, with additional festivities marking the start of the tournament across host cities.

The ceremony combined music, spectacle and global sports pageantry, setting the tone for the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup. Perry’s performance stood out as one of the event’s most talked-about moments, blending pop star power with the international excitement surrounding the tournament’s opening days.
