David Beckham Receives Hollywood Honor Amid Family Tension with Son Brooklyn

David Beckham received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 12, becoming the first soccer player to be honored in the iconic Los Angeles ceremony. The former England captain was recognized in the Sports Entertainment category at a public event attended by family, friends, and several celebrities. Among those present were his wife Victoria Beckham, their children Cruz, Romeo, and Harper, as well as Tom Cruise, Eva Longoria, and James Corden. Beckham described the moment as “surreal,” saying he could never have imagined such recognition for a working-class English soccer player.

The honor marked another milestone in Beckham’s career, which includes standout spells at Manchester United and Real Madrid, as well as a long international career with England. Since retiring from professional soccer in 2013, he has remained highly visible in sports and business as co-owner of Major League Soccer club Inter Miami CF.

However, the celebration was overshadowed by ongoing family tension. Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, did not attend the ceremony, amid continuing reports of a rift within the family. According to reports, Brooklyn has been estranged from his parents for several months. In a previous statement posted on Instagram Stories, he allegedly accused David and Victoria of controlling his life and said he did not want to reconcile with them.

The family discord has become increasingly public in recent months. Reports say Brooklyn blocked his parents on social media in December 2025 and asked that future communication go through his lawyers. Despite that, David and Victoria have reportedly continued to make efforts to reach out to him. Both parents posted birthday messages for Brooklyn on his 27th birthday in March, sharing older family photos and expressing love for their son.

Attention also turned to Harper Beckham, who was seen outside Brooklyn’s Los Angeles home shortly after David’s Walk of Fame ceremony. She reportedly arrived in the same pink dress she wore to the event. An insider said Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, were out of town and that Harper left soon after, but the visit was seen as another possible attempt to reconnect with her brother. Harper had also publicly mentioned Brooklyn in a Valentine’s Day post in February, sharing a childhood photo of herself with all three brothers and writing that she loved them deeply.

In a separate interview with Variety, David Beckham declined to discuss the family dispute publicly, calling it a private matter. He said his family remains his top priority and emphasized that protecting his children has always been important to him and Victoria. Victoria echoed that sentiment in a later interview, saying the couple has always tried to protect and love their children.
