One Obsession Scene Is Still Haunting Viewers Days Later — And Here’s Why

Blumhouse’s horror film Obsession is drawing attention in theaters, not only for its twist ending but also for one of its most disturbing kills. The movie follows Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, as she struggles for control of her body while a supernatural force tied to Bear’s wish drives violent behavior. In the final moments, Nikki regains control, but the ending leaves her surrounded by money and the bodies of three dead friends, fueling debate among viewers about what the film is really saying and how the possession element works.

Among the film’s most talked-about moments is the death of Sarah, played by Megan Lawless. The scene unfolds during a sequence involving Ian’s party and a tense encounter between Sarah and Bear in Sarah’s car. As Sarah and Bear sit together, Nikki suddenly appears, breaks through the car window, and attacks with brutal force. The violence escalates quickly, with Sarah being repeatedly smashed against a brick until she is killed in a graphic and deeply unsettling manner. The scene stands out as the most gruesome moment in the movie and has become the part that many viewers say they cannot stop thinking about.

The film’s violence is described as sudden, chaotic, and emotionally jarring, especially because it plays out amid the clash between the “real” Nikki and the version of her controlled by an obsessive supernatural influence. That conflict adds to the horror, making the attack feel both personal and irrational. For horror fans, the sequence is the kind of scene that lingers long after the credits roll, joining the ranks of memorable modern genre shocks such as the creature attacks in Nope, the ladder sequence in Scream VI, and the bloody climax of Weapons.

The final scene extends the unease even further. After Sarah’s death, the film shows that the force inhabiting Nikki’s body has not only remained in control but has also left the body severely mangled in Bear’s home. That image adds a final layer of dread to a story already filled with body horror and psychological disturbance. It reinforces the sense that the wish at the center of the plot has created consequences far beyond the characters’ original intentions.

Obsession is now playing in theaters as part of the 2026 film slate, and its mix of supernatural horror, bodily control, and graphic violence has made it a standout for genre audiences. While the movie’s ending is sure to spark continued discussion, Sarah’s death is the sequence most likely to stick with viewers, both for its brutality and for the way it captures the film’s relentless, nightmare-like tone.
