Mystery Solved: Major Crimes Will Stream Free on Pluto TV, Exclusive

Pluto TV is adding Major Crimes to its streaming lineup on June 1, giving viewers access to all six seasons of the TNT police procedural. The series, which ran for 105 episodes, follows Captain Sharon Raydor, played by Mary McDonnell, as she takes over the LAPD’s Major Crimes division after the departure of Brenda Leigh Johnson in The Closer. The show picks up in the aftermath of the earlier series and centers on Sharon’s challenge of leading a team that does not fully trust her.

At the heart of Major Crimes is Sharon’s conflict with her colleagues, especially Detective Lieutenant Louie Provenza, played by G.W. Bailey. As a former internal affairs officer, Sharon faces resistance from detectives who are skeptical of her leadership style. The series also explores her personal life, including her relationship with her adopted teenage son, Rusty, portrayed by Graham Patrick Martin. Rusty’s past as a victim of a sex crime adds another emotional layer to the story and eventually becomes tied to Sharon’s professional world.

While the drama includes character-driven storylines, Major Crimes remains a case-of-the-week crime series with larger arcs that run across multiple episodes and seasons. Its investigations involve a range of serious crimes, including white supremacist activity, drug trafficking and drug kingpins. The mix of standalone cases and ongoing storylines helped the show build a loyal audience during its original run.

The ensemble cast includes Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz, Kearran Giovanni, Phillip P. Keene, Jonathan Del Arco, Robert Gossett, Nadine Velazquez, Jon Tenney, Leonard Roberts, Daniel Di Tomasso and Jessica Meraz. McDonnell anchors the series as Sharon Raydor, while the supporting cast fills out the Major Crimes unit and the broader LAPD world.

The show is also known for notable guest appearances. One standout episode, season 2’s “There’s No Place Like Home,” features television veterans Marion Ross, Doris Roberts, Paul Dooley and Tim Conway as suspects in a murder case involving a landlord. The episode is remembered for its playful use of actors associated with classic sitcoms and variety shows.

Each episode of Major Crimes runs about 43 minutes, making it a format well suited to binge-watching. Pluto TV will stream the show in its original format, allowing new and returning viewers to revisit the full run from beginning to end.

Pluto TV is also positioning itself as a destination for crime and mystery fans beyond Major Crimes. Its catalog includes both older and newer titles such as In the Heat of the Night, The Fall, Broadchurch, Criminal Minds and Tracker. Viewers interested in Major Crimes can also stream The Closer on Pluto TV, offering a full look at the origins of the Major Crimes division and Sharon Raydor’s evolution from rival to successor.
