Kelly Ripa Questions Whether Mark Consuelos Is “Cookie Jarring” Her

On the Tuesday, June 16 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa interrupted a dating-trends discussion to turn the topic into a joke about her own marriage with Mark Consuelos. Consuelos was explaining the term “cookie jarring,” which describes keeping romantic options open even after showing interest in someone. He said the behavior means a person is “one of the cookies” in someone’s dating “cookie jar.” During the segment, he also mentioned that “extended response times” to text messages can be a warning sign, prompting Ripa to laugh and raise her hand with a complaint of her own.
Ripa asked, “Are you cookie jarring me?” and then suggested that her husband sometimes ignores her texts even when she is right behind him. Consuelos replied that the situation was not “cookie jarring” but simply “ignoring,” while Ripa escalated the joke by calling it “gaslight cookie jarring.” The exchange reflected the couple’s familiar on-air banter, which often turns everyday relationship frustrations into comedic moments for viewers.
Consuelos defended himself by saying that Ripa often knows exactly where he is and what he is doing. Ripa, however, was unconvinced. She described a common scene in their home: the television on, a computer open, and Consuelos looking at his phone. When he said he was checking analytics, Ripa suggested he was really on Instagram. Consuelos insisted he was reviewing “very important information” in real time for the soccer club the couple co-owns, Campobasso FC, a historic Italian team based in the Molise region.
The moment highlighted how easy it is for couples to feel ignored when one partner is physically present but mentally absorbed in a screen. It also reinforced the dynamic that has defined Live with Kelly and Mark since Consuelos officially joined as cohost in 2023. Much of the pair’s appeal comes from the way they take broad cultural topics and connect them to their own marriage, turning workplace discussions into personal, relatable comedy.
Ripa and Consuelos have been married since 1996 and have three children: Michael, Lola and Joaquin. Over the years, and especially since working together on daytime television, they have regularly used the show to share small domestic disagreements, parenting memories and observations about married life. Their chemistry remains a key part of the program, with moments like this offering a glimpse into the couple’s long-running mix of affection, teasing and blunt honesty.
