Rod Stewart, 81, Cancels Two Concerts Due to Health Issues

Rod Stewart has canceled two upcoming Las Vegas concerts after following medical advice while recovering from a sinus infection. A representative for the 81-year-old singer said he had regretfully called off his performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 29 and May 30, but is expected to return to the stage on June 2. Stewart also said he is on vocal rest as he recovers and apologized to fans, adding that he hopes to see them at Caesars Palace or later on his summer tour. Ticket holders for the canceled shows are being offered refunds.

The postponement is described as a brief pause rather than a longer break, with Stewart’s team indicating that he remains scheduled for several more Las Vegas dates in early June, including June 2, June 4, and June 6, before continuing on to Phoenix, Arizona. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Stewart has performed more than 200 shows in Las Vegas during his career, making the city a significant part of his long-running live performance history.

The cancellation comes shortly after Stewart drew attention for an awkward exchange with King Charles III at The King’s Trust 50th Anniversary Celebration in London on May 11. During the event at Royal Albert Hall, Stewart congratulated the king on his recent visit to the United States and made a pointed remark about President Donald Trump, calling him “that little rat bag” in a comment that the king did not answer directly. The moment drew notice because members of the British royal family are expected to remain politically neutral.

Stewart has been increasingly vocal in his criticism of Trump in recent years, both in public appearances and on social media. Although he was once considered friendly with Trump, Stewart has become one of the president’s more outspoken celebrity critics. His political views have also prompted reaction online, with some users responding negatively to his posts. The reaction has been notable because Stewart has long been associated with conservative politics, though reports suggest his views have shifted over time, influenced in part by his opinions of Trump and former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
