Hulu’s Legal Drama Conviction Adds Four Cast Members in Exclusive Report
Hulu has expanded the cast of its upcoming legal drama “Conviction,” adding Linda Emond as a series regular and Zainab Jah, Ashley Zukerman, and Jose Zúñiga in recurring guest roles. They join previously announced star Elisabeth Moss, along with Jimmi Simpson, Sebastian De Souza, and Adam Godley.
Based on Jack Jordan’s novel of the same name, “Conviction” was ordered at Hulu in February. The series centers on criminal defense attorney Neve Harper, played by Moss, who gets the chance to take on a career-defining murder case involving a husband accused of killing his wife by setting their home on fire. The story follows Harper as a mysterious blackmailer forces her to bend legal, moral, and ethical lines in pursuit of an acquittal while her own secrets threaten to surface.
Character details for the newly announced cast members have not been revealed. Emond is known for roles in “The Gilded Age,” “The Patient,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Madam Secretary,” “The Good Wife,” and “The Good Fight,” and has also appeared in films including “Across the Universe,” “City by the Sea,” “North Country,” and “Causeway.” A three-time Tony Award nominee, she currently stars on Broadway in “Becky Shaw.”
Jah recently appeared in “The Continental,” the John Wick spinoff, and has credits in “Drift,” “All Dirt Roads Taste of Salt,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “The Good Lord Bird,” and “Homeland.” Zukerman has starred in “Manhattan” and “The Lost Symbol,” with additional roles in “Succession,” “Designated Survivor,” and Apple TV+’s “Silo.” He also appeared in all three “Fear Street” films. Zúñiga’s TV credits include “Narcos: Mexico,” “Griselda,” “Westworld,” “CSI,” and “Physical,” while his film work includes “Sound of Freedom,” “The Life List,” and “Alone at Dawn.”
David Shore is adapting the series for television and serves as showrunner and executive producer. Moss executive produces through Love & Squalor Pictures and stars in the lead role. Warren Littlefield executive produces for The Littlefield Co., reuniting with Moss and Hulu after collaborating on “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “The Testaments.” Additional executive producers include Erin Gunn, Jack Jordan, Ann Johnson, Lisa Harrison, Bert Salke, and Lindsey McManus. 20th Television is the studio behind the project.
