June 2026 opened with a packed stretch of celebrity, film, television and music events across New York, Los Angeles, London and beyond, with major stars appearing at awards shows, premieres, festival screenings and brand celebrations.
The month began in New York City with the Gotham Television Awards, where winners and honorees included Chase Infiniti, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kerry Washington, “I Love LA” and “Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.” The city remained a central hub throughout the first week of June, with the Tribeca Festival drawing a long list of talent to premieres, panels and parties. Appearances included Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson reuniting for the premiere of their film “Happy Hours,” Al Pacino and Oscar Isaac at “In the Hand of Dante,” Peter Dinklage at “Death Sex & Money” Live, and Debi Mazar at Madonna’s “Confessions II” film premiere.
London also played a major role in the month’s celebrity calendar. Variety launched the London edition of Power of Women with honorees including Cynthia Erivo, Hannah Waddingham and Emma Corrin. Emma Corrin made history as the first non-binary honoree in the Power of Women franchise. The U.K. also hosted the world premiere of Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day,” bringing together Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson and others for the film’s London photo call and related events.
Pride Month celebrations added another dimension to the June lineup. Madonna held a surprise performance in New York’s Times Square in partnership with Grindr, performing songs tied to her upcoming album “Confessions II” alongside classic hits and using the event to celebrate her queer fans. In Los Angeles and Nashville, Pride-related gatherings included OUTLOUD Music Festival performances by Mel C and the Pussycat Dolls, as well as GLAAD’s Pride & Progress event.
Sports, fashion and brand events also kept celebrities busy. At SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, stars such as Danny Ramirez, Anitta, Shaboozey, Halle Berry and Jamie Foxx appeared at the USA vs. Paraguay celebrity suite hosted by Raising Cane’s. In Mexico City, Salma Hayek served as an official FIFA World Cup 2026 ambassador and helped present the tournament trophy. Other major appearances included Taylor Swift at the Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala, Ariana Grande launching her Eternal Sunshine tour in Oakland, and David Beckham’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star unveiling with Tom Cruise.
The coverage also captured fashion and cultural moments from Dom Pérignon, Chanel, Zegna and Culture Makers, as well as TV and film events including “Matlock,” “Shrinking,” “Wonder Man,” “The Beast in Me,” and the “Scary Movie” premiere. Across every city, June 2026 emerged as a high-profile month filled with red carpets, reunions, premieres and music performances.
