Federal District wakes up to 11°C low and no rain expected this Friday

The morning in Brazil’s Federal District (DF) started bright on Friday, June 5, with clear skies and a noticeable drop in temperature, even under strong sunshine. The coldest temperature recorded in the region was 11°C in Águas Emendadas, while the Plano Piloto area saw a minimum of 15°C. Despite the cool start, the forecast called for a sunny day with temperatures expected to rise to 24°C in Brasília and up to 26°C in other parts of the DF.
Humidity levels also showed sharp variation during the morning. In Paranoá, relative humidity reached 99%, one of the highest readings of the day, but it was expected to fall to as low as 40% later in the day as the weather warmed and the atmosphere dried out. The low humidity in the afternoon is typical of the dry season pattern that often affects the central part of Brazil.
The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) issued a temperature drop warning for the Federal District, as a cold air system continues to influence weather conditions across parts of Brazil. According to the alert, the cold wave is linked to a low-pressure area over the South Atlantic Ocean, which is driving lower temperatures in the South, Southeast, and parts of the Center-West region of the country.
Meteorologist Taís Cortês said rain is not expected in the Federal District on Friday or over the weekend. Instead, residents can expect plenty of sunshine, especially during the afternoon hours, when skies should remain mostly clear. Temperatures are also projected to increase gradually over the coming days, bringing a more stable and warmer pattern after the morning chill.
The weather shift comes as the region experiences the effects of a broader cold front influencing much of Brazil. While the mornings remain cool, daytime heating is expected to become more pronounced, creating a sharper contrast between the early hours and the afternoon. For residents of the Federal District, the forecast suggests dry, sunny conditions with rising temperatures and no immediate sign of rain in the short term.
