Famous Co-Stars’ Most Explosive Legal Battles After Filming Wrapped
Hollywood co-stars have often turned courtroom rivals after relationships and collaborations soured once the cameras stopped rolling. Several high-profile disputes have unfolded in public, involving allegations of harassment, defamation, invasion of privacy, and contract interference.
One of the most recent and widely reported feuds involved Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who worked together on the 2024 film adaptation of It Ends With Us. Despite the movie’s box office success, their professional relationship collapsed after filming. Lively filed a civil suit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and of helping orchestrate a smear campaign against her reputation. Baldoni denied the claims and responded with a countersuit alleging defamation and civil extortion against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her public relations team. The dispute was later resolved through a joint settlement.
Another major celebrity legal battle centered on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, who first met while filming The Rum Diary in 2011. Their on-set connection later became a marriage in 2015, but the relationship ended less than two years later when Heard filed for divorce and sought a restraining order, citing domestic abuse allegations. The conflict escalated into multiple legal proceedings, including a UK libel case in 2020 and Depp’s defamation suit in Virginia, linked to Heard’s 2018 Washington Post op-ed about domestic abuse advocacy. Heard filed a counterclaim accusing Depp of a smear campaign. The six-week trial was streamed globally in 2022, and a Virginia jury ultimately found in Depp’s favor.
Reality television has also seen its share of legal turmoil. On Vanderpump Rules, Rachel Leviss, Tom Sandoval, and Ariana Madix became embroiled in a bitter court fight after Sandoval’s affair with Leviss was revealed in 2024. Leviss then filed a civil lawsuit accusing Sandoval of invasion of privacy and revenge porn, claiming he secretly recorded an explicit FaceTime video without consent and that Madix later shared it. Sandoval filed a cross-complaint against Madix, seeking to shift potential damages, but later dropped the suit and dismissed his lawyer. The privacy-related claims remain active in court.
The Kardashians franchise has similarly produced courtroom drama. Blac Chyna starred with Rob Kardashian and his family in the 2016 spin-off Rob & Chyna, but the relationship ended and the series was not renewed. In 2017, Chyna filed a $100 million lawsuit accusing Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner of defamation and contract interference, alleging they used their influence to damage her image and derail her television career. After a nine-day civil trial in 2022, a Los Angeles jury ruled for the Kardashian-Jenner family and awarded Chyna no damages. She later settled a separate revenge porn case against Rob out of court.
These disputes show how quickly professional partnerships in Hollywood can spill into personal and legal battles, turning fame, romance, and reality television into headline-making courtroom conflicts.
