Brooklyn Beckham Skips David Beckham’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony Amid Family Feud

David Beckham was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, but one family member was notably absent from the ceremony: his eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham. The event brought together Victoria Beckham and the couple’s younger children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, to celebrate the former soccer star’s latest milestone, while Brooklyn stayed away amid an ongoing family rift.

Brooklyn’s absence came after months of public tension. In January, he posted messages on Instagram Stories accusing his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin” his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz. He also said he was “not being controlled” and claimed he was “standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” while adding that he had no desire to reconcile. In the same posts, Brooklyn alleged that his parents had repeatedly pressured him and tried to bribe him into giving up the rights to his name, saying their behavior changed after he refused.

Despite the family divide, many of David Beckham’s close friends and high-profile supporters attended the ceremony. Among those present were James Corden, Eva Longoria, Landon Donovan, Robbie Keane and Kyle Martino. The biggest surprise guest was Tom Cruise, who rarely appears publicly in Los Angeles and stepped up to deliver a tribute to Beckham.

Cruise praised Beckham’s rise from a young boy with a dream to a global sports icon, saying his success was built on hard work, discipline and dedication. He said Beckham’s story fit the Hollywood Walk of Fame because it reflected the same qualities associated with entertainers who have shaped culture worldwide. Cruise also noted that Beckham’s career had influenced his sport and created opportunities for future generations.

The actor also paid tribute to Victoria Beckham and the family, saying she had been by David’s side throughout much of his journey and that together they had built a meaningful life and raised an impressive family. He ended by telling Beckham that he had earned the honor and deserved it more than anyone.

When Beckham took the microphone, he reflected on how much Hollywood meant to him growing up. He said going to the cinema was a special treat for him and his sisters, and that like many boys his age, he was obsessed with action heroes. He called it “mind-blowing” to stand beside Tom Cruise, whom he described as the greatest movie star of his time.

Beckham also spoke warmly about his personal connection to Cruise’s films, noting that his and Victoria’s first movie date was Jerry Maguire. He thanked Cruise for welcoming their family to Los Angeles 20 years ago and for remaining a loyal friend and inspiration ever since. Beckham said he admired Cruise’s energy, professionalism and dedication, and expressed gratitude for the actor’s presence at the ceremony.
