Bengaluru Police Issue Advisory for Post-IPL 2026 Final Celebrations

Bengaluru city police issued an advisory on May 29, 2026, urging the public to maintain peace and follow all safety instructions before and after the IPL 2026 final, in which Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reached the title match. The advisory was released ahead of the final scheduled for May 31, 2026, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has a capacity of more than 130,000 spectators.
Police asked residents to avoid bursting crackers, using dangerous materials, holding road celebrations, creating noise, or engaging in fights after the result is announced. The force said public celebrations in streets, intersections, and other public places should be avoided, and that maintaining law and order is the responsibility of every citizen. It also warned against bike rallies, over-speeding, stunts, excessive horn use, and blocking roads.
The advisory placed restrictions on public screening arrangements as well. LED walls facing roads cannot be installed without prior permission from the relevant authorities, and any existing LED walls should not telecast the match. Screens must also not be set up outside malls, pubs, or other establishments in a way that makes them visible to the public for viewing the final.
Police further cautioned people not to consume alcohol in public places or create disturbances, indecent behavior, or physical confrontations. The advisory also warned against sharing provocative posts, hateful messages, or rumours on social media. Fans were told not to provoke, insult, or antagonize supporters of other teams under the pretext of the match result.
Traffic officials’ instructions must be strictly followed, the police said, especially in crowded areas where movement and crowd control may become difficult. The advisory emphasized peace, discipline, and public safety throughout the city during the match period.
The warning comes in the backdrop of a deadly stampede in June 2025 near Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where RCB victory celebrations turned tragic and left 11 people dead and 33 injured. The police advisory appears aimed at preventing any repeat of such an incident and ensuring that any celebration after the IPL final remains orderly and safe.
