Aryna Sabalenka’s 23-Carat Diamond Necklace: Designer Revealed Behind Her French Open Jewelry
Aryna Sabalenka will open her 2026 Roland Garros campaign on Court Philippe-Chatrier wearing more than just elite tennis gear. The world No. 1 is set to debut a custom 23-carat diamond necklace created by New York luxury boutique Material Good, continuing a partnership that has already seen her wear the brand’s jewelry at the Australian Open and US Open. For the French Open, Sabalenka worked directly with the jeweler to design a piece that reflects both her on-court style and the visual identity of Roland Garros, where the red clay surface inspired the use of 200 carats of deep crimson garnets and a layered three-necklace arrangement built around Material Good’s signature Multi-Shape design.
The necklace is part of a broader fashion statement that includes a two-toned red-and-black Nike dress, which Sabalenka previewed in a reel on Instagram. Known for embracing luxury pieces during competition, the Belarusian star has often paired match outfits with “evil eye” necklaces for luck, diamond tennis bracelets and her 12-carat engagement ring from fiancé Georgios Frangulis. That ring, unveiled after the couple’s March 2026 engagement, was custom-designed by ISA Grutman Jewelry and is reportedly valued between $500,000 and $800,000, featuring an oval-cut diamond, pavé accents and hidden emerald details.
Sabalenka’s high-jewelry look fits into a long tradition of tennis stars turning major tournaments into unexpected fashion showcases. Chris Evert’s famous bracelet incident at the 1978 US Open led to the term “tennis bracelet” after officials stopped play when her diamond line bracelet fell off during a match. Serena Williams also made a memorable style statement at the 2002 US Open with a Harry Winston diamond bracelet worth about $29,000, while Emma Raducanu wore roughly $30,000 in Tiffany & Co. jewelry at Wimbledon in 2022. Men’s tennis has its own luxury history too, with Rafael Nadal often competing in ultra-lightweight Richard Mille watches, some priced above $1 million.
The blend of performance and prestige has become part of Sabalenka’s image, and her French Open necklace adds another chapter to that story. The timing is fitting, as Roland Garros is known for its demanding clay courts and global spotlight, making it a stage where athletic excellence and personal branding often intersect. Sabalenka’s first-round opponent is Spain’s Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, and her entrance is expected to draw as much attention for the jewelry as for the tennis.
