Alabama vs. Oklahoma Baseball Live Updates, Score and Highlights for College World Series Game

Alabama and Oklahoma opened College World Series play on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in a Bracket 2 matchup carrying major implications for both teams. The game was part of a historic tournament for the SEC, which sent a record five teams to Omaha and set up multiple conference matchups throughout the week. Alabama entered as the No. 7 seed and was making its first College World Series appearance since 1999, while Oklahoma returned to Omaha for the first time since 2022 after a strong postseason run.

The Crimson Tide reached Omaha by winning the Tuscaloosa Regional and sweeping the Tuscaloosa Super Regional with two convincing victories over St. John’s. Alabama took two of three games from Oklahoma during their regular-season series in April, giving the Tide some familiarity with the Sooners heading into the matchup. Oklahoma, meanwhile, arrived as an unseeded team that peaked at the right time. The Sooners went 6-1 in the NCAA Tournament entering Saturday, including wins over No. 2 national seed Georgia Tech in the Atlanta Regional and No. 15 Kansas in the Lawrence Super Regional.

The College World Series follows a double-elimination format, so both Alabama and Oklahoma were guaranteed at least two games in Omaha. The winner of Saturday’s contest would advance in the winner’s bracket and play the winner of Georgia vs. Texas on Monday, June 15, at 6 p.m. ET. The loser would drop into the elimination bracket and face the loser of Georgia and Texas earlier that day.

Oklahoma made an immediate early statement. Left-hander Cord Rager opened the game with an immaculate inning, retiring Alabama’s first three batters on nine pitches. The Sooners quickly built a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Trey Gambill delivered a two-run double into the right-center gap. Oklahoma added to the lead in the second inning when Deiten Lachance hit into a fielder’s choice that brought home another run, pushing the margin to 3-0.

Alabama struggled early at the plate against Rager’s breaking ball, while Crimson Tide starter Tyler Fay had difficulty slowing down Oklahoma’s lineup. Fay settled in after the rough opening frame, but Oklahoma’s early cushion gave the Sooners control of the game. The Sooners also had a brief injury concern when Lachance appeared to twist his ankle while running the bases.

Saturday’s game also carried added significance because of Alabama’s long-awaited return to Omaha and Oklahoma’s bid to continue its hot postseason run. Alabama entered the game 5-0 in the NCAA Tournament, while Oklahoma came in at 6-1. Both programs have long College World Series histories, with Oklahoma making its 12th appearance and Alabama its sixth.

Weather was also a factor in Omaha, with thunderstorms expected during the afternoon. Both teams held batting practice indoors earlier in the day because of rain in the area. ESPN televised the game nationally, with streaming available through the ESPN app and Fubo.
