The opening match of Brazil at the 2026 World Cup against Morocco on Saturday, June 11, in New Jersey is among the most in-demand games of the tournament, with 75,000 tickets sold in advance. It trails only the final and the Mexico vs. South Africa opener, which drew 80,824 fans on Thursday, June 11, at Mexico City Stadium, the venue formerly known as Estadio Azteca.
Other matches with the strongest ticket sales include Colombia vs. Portugal in Miami, Brazil vs. Scotland in Miami, Mexico vs. South Korea in Guadalajara, and Ecuador vs. Germany at the New York/New Jersey Stadium. The early demand reflects not only the global appeal of the World Cup, but also the strong pull of marquee teams and major host-city markets.
Industry executives say the trend shows how the modern fan experience is shaping ticket demand. Leo Rizzo, CEO of Soccer Hospitality, said football remains the main attraction, but the atmosphere and services around the event have become decisive for many supporters. Robson Carlo, co-founder of FutebolCard, said the sport now competes within the broader entertainment industry, where fans seek emotion, convenience, comfort, and memorable experiences when they choose to attend a stadium.
The data also highlights the strong performance of South American teams in ticket sales. Along with Brazil, Ecuador and Colombia appear among the top 10 most sought-after matches, while Argentina’s games have also generated significant demand. According to Tironi Paz Ortiz, CEO of Imply, this is no surprise in a tournament hosted in North America, where large Latin American communities help drive interest and attendance.
Bruno Brum, CMO of Agência End to End, said football carries deep cultural meaning for South American fans, who often treat World Cup attendance as a major personal investment. He described support for national teams at the tournament as an expression of identity, belonging, and long-term emotional commitment.
The figures underline how the 2026 World Cup is drawing early global interest, with Brazil once again at the center of fan demand and Latin American support proving to be a major force in stadium attendance.
