Trump’s Latest Health Report Leaves One Major Mystery Unanswered

President Donald Trump’s latest medical examination says the 79-year-old is in “excellent health,” with White House Physician Dr. Sean Barbabella concluding that Trump is “fully fit” and showing strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function. The report, however, also noted that Trump has gained 14 pounds since his April 2025 physical, bringing his weight to 238 pounds. Barbabella said he recommended that the president lose weight through more exercise and dietary adjustments.
The assessment was broadly positive, but it did not address several visible health issues that have drawn public attention in recent months. The report made no mention of the skin rash that appeared on Trump’s neck earlier this year, nor did it discuss the persistent bruising on his hands that has fueled speculation about his condition. Those omissions have renewed scrutiny over how much medical information the White House chooses to disclose about the president.
In March, Barbabella had said the rash was related to a “very common cream” used as a preventive skin treatment. But the latest report did not refer to the rash or to any dermatological treatment. By contrast, it did address the bruising on Trump’s hands, saying the marks are consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking while he is on aspirin therapy intended to reduce cardiovascular risk. Barbabella also confirmed that Trump continues to manage chronic venous insufficiency, a condition associated with swelling in the legs, and said he recommended reducing the president’s aspirin dosage.
Questions about Trump’s medical transparency are not new. During his 2024 campaign, he declined to release detailed medical records, continuing a pattern that has followed him throughout his political career. In 2015, his then-physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, issued a letter describing Trump as “the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency,” and later said Trump himself dictated the statement. Trump’s health disclosures also came under heavy scrutiny during his 2020 hospitalization for COVID-19, when officials were criticized for not fully explaining the seriousness of his illness. Former White House physician Dr. Sean Conley later acknowledged trying to present an “upbeat” account of Trump’s condition.
The latest report comes as Trump continues to appear in public with makeup or bandages covering the bruises on his hands, adding to ongoing discussion about his health. Even with the official assessment describing him as fit and in good overall condition, the unanswered questions surrounding the rash, bruising and medical transparency remain a source of public interest.
