Demi Moore Caught in Rumer Willis Family Feud

Rumer Willis’ custody dispute with ex Derek Richard Thomas has become more complicated after Demi Moore entered the legal fight and publicly backed her daughter. Court filings from Moore described troubling behavior during the birth of Rumer’s daughter, Louetta, and portrayed Thomas as aggressive, self-centered, and stressful to be around. The claims brought fresh attention to a custody battle that has reportedly been ongoing for nearly a year.
According to reports, Moore has grown increasingly uncomfortable with Thomas and does not want a relationship with him. Insiders say her focus is on protecting Rumer and Louetta and keeping the family as stable as possible. Moore’s position reportedly reflects her belief that family support should come first and that conflict should be minimized for the sake of the child.
The situation has also highlighted the close bond between Moore and Rumer, as well as the strong family support system surrounding the new mother. Sources say Rumer relies heavily on Moore, and that her sisters, Scout and Tallulah, are also involved in helping care for Louetta whenever possible. Moore is reportedly helping with the baby and remaining deeply engaged in her granddaughter’s life.
Moore’s filing painted a difficult picture of the pregnancy and home birth. She alleged that Rumer was under constant stress, that Thomas behaved badly during labor, and that he unexpectedly got into the birthing tub while Rumer was giving birth. Moore also claimed he spent much of the labor angry and pouting, and later reacted badly when she and Scout returned to help clean after the delivery. She further alleged that he tried to push Rumer away from her family and expected immediate skin-to-skin contact with the baby even though Louetta was cold and needed to be bundled.
Rumer’s own court documents added more serious accusations. She claimed Thomas engaged in “coercive control,” made her fear for herself and their child, and became increasingly erratic after Louetta was born. She said she felt fragile postpartum, was constantly walking on eggshells, and believed he was trying to isolate her from loved ones. Rumer also alleged that he expected her wealthy family to cover child-related costs while contributing little himself. Her filings state that she pays substantial monthly expenses for childcare, groceries, and other needs.
Thomas has denied all abuse allegations. He acknowledged the relationship was unhealthy but rejected claims of domestic violence, coercive control, neglect, or any danger to Louetta. He also said he has been a devoted father and accused Rumer of trying to air the dispute in public instead of handling it in court.
Despite the escalating accusations, Moore’s supporters say her main concern remains Louetta’s wellbeing, security, and emotional stability as the family continues to navigate the custody battle.
