Tyson Fury Hints at August Fight in Dublin

Tyson Fury has sparked speculation that he will return to the ring in Dublin, Ireland, on August 1, after posting a training video on social media with the caption, “Let’s go August 1, Dublin, Ireland.” The two-time heavyweight world champion shared the clip while training in Thailand, suggesting he may be preparing for another fight later this summer. Although Fury has not yet been officially confirmed for the card, the timing of the post has raised expectations that he could feature on a show already being promoted by his long-time promoter Frank Warren.

Warren is set to stage a fight night in the Irish capital on that date, with the main attraction currently scheduled to be the light-welterweight IBO title bout between Pierce O’Leary and Mark Chamberlain at Dublin’s 3Arena. Fury’s possible involvement would add major attention to the event, but no formal announcement has been made regarding his participation. The former heavyweight champion, now 37, has previously indicated that he remains active in the division after ending his latest retirement.

An appearance in Dublin could also be seen as a potential build-up to a long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua. Joshua, 36, is due to return to action on July 26 against Albanian opponent Kristian Prenga. That fight will mark his first outing since a serious car crash in Nigeria in December that killed two of his friends. Joshua’s comeback has added further intrigue to plans for a future meeting with Fury.

The fight between Fury and Joshua is expected to take place in 2026, after Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said in April that the Olympic gold medallist had signed to face Fury. That announcement followed Fury’s return from a 15-month retirement, which ended with a points victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Fury used the post-fight spotlight to challenge Joshua directly, with the two former world champions exchanging words ringside in an intense reminder of one of boxing’s most anticipated potential matchups.

For now, Fury’s social media hint has created fresh excitement over whether he will appear in Dublin on August 1. If confirmed, the fight would likely serve as another step toward a major heavyweight clash with Joshua, a bout that has been discussed for years and remains one of the biggest commercial and sporting events possible in boxing.
