Authorities Find Missing 6-Year-Old Dickinson Child; One Arrested

Authorities in Harris County, Texas, said a missing 6-year-old girl was found safe and an AMBER Alert issued Saturday morning was canceled after deputies located her in La Marque. The child had last been seen around 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 12300 block of 12th Street in Dickinson, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
Constable Mark Herman said 36-year-old James Ramirez was arrested in connection with the case after both he and the girl were found. Herman identified Ramirez as the ex-boyfriend of the girl’s mother, but said he was not the child’s biological father. Authorities said the search ended after law enforcement located the pair in La Marque, Texas.
As a precaution, emergency medical services were checking the girl before she was expected to be reunited with her mother. Officials did not immediately release additional details about the circumstances that led to the alert or Ramirez’s arrest.
Herman praised the response from multiple agencies involved in the search, including the Special Operations Unit, Special Victims Unit investigators and other law enforcement partners. He credited their coordinated effort with bringing the case to a safe resolution.
The AMBER Alert had drawn urgency to the search as authorities worked to locate the child overnight and through Saturday morning. The case began after the girl was reported missing from Dickinson, a community in Galveston County just southeast of Houston, and later moved into Harris County’s emergency alert system.
The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office served as the source for the information released about the incident. The recovery of the child and arrest of Ramirez marked the end of the active search effort.
