After nearly fifteen years since the last installment, the Scary Movie franchise is returning with a sixth film, bringing back the parody series that became known for spoofing popular horror and pop culture hits. Ahead of the new release, fans can revisit the earlier movies and catch up on the chaotic adventures of Cindy Campbell, Brenda Meeks, and the rest of the crew.
The original Scary Movie (2000) follows Cindy Campbell and her friends after a classmate is brutally murdered, revealing that a killer is among them. As they try to survive, they also deal with relentless reporter Gail Hailstorm, who keeps interfering with their lives. The film is available on Paramount+ and Mercado Play, the latter free with ads.
In Scary Movie 2 (2001), Cindy, Brenda, Ray Wilkins, and Shorty Meeks are still recovering from the trauma of the previous Halloween when they become involved in a school project at Hell House, a location tied to a failed exorcism. Their stay turns into another horror-comedy disaster. The film is available on Paramount+.
Scary Movie 3 (2003) centers on Cindy, now a reporter, who accidentally watches a strange videotape that kills viewers within a week. While searching for a way to survive, she uncovers mysterious circles on a farm linked to the tape’s strange events. This installment is also available on Paramount+ and Mercado Play.
Scary Movie 4 features Cindy hired to care for a young boy in a haunted mansion, where she and Brenda soon uncover the secret behind an alien invasion. Despite its popularity, this title is not currently available for streaming.
Scary Movie 5 shifts to a new cast that includes Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Tisdale, Snoop Dogg, and Mike Tyson. The plot follows a couple dealing with supernatural problems after rescuing their missing nieces from a forest. It is also unavailable for streaming at the moment.
The new Scary Movie 6 takes place more than two decades after Cindy Campbell, Brenda Meeks, and their friends first faced the iconic masked killer. The threat returns, forcing the group to fight for their lives once again. Along with Anna Faris and Regina Hall, the film features returning franchise favorites such as Marlon Wayans as Shorty Meeks, Shawn Wayans as Ray Wilkins, Jon Abrahams as Bobby Prinze, Lochlyn Munro as Greg Phillipe, and Dave Sheridan as Doofy Gilmore.
Scary Movie 6 is set to premiere in Brazilian theaters on June 4.
