Trump Praises ‘Handsome’ Giants QB Jaxson Dart Amid Locker Room Drama
President Donald Trump has publicly defended New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart after the young player drew criticism for introducing him at a recent rally in Suffern, New York. In a Fox News interview, Trump dismissed the backlash and praised Dart’s appearance, character and football potential, saying he wished he looked like him and describing him as a “handsome” and “beautiful” man. Trump also called Dart a “conservative guy” and recalled the quarterback warmly greeting him at the event.
Trump said Dart’s introduction was personal and respectful, noting that the quarterback told him, “I love you, sir.” The president went on to predict a strong future for the rookie quarterback, calling him “potentially a great quarterback” who is still early in his career. Trump added that Dart already helps the Giants when he is on the field and said he believes the player can become even better if he stays healthy. He concluded that Dart “is gonna be great.”
The comments came after Dart became a point of debate among Giants fans and some within the organization for taking part in the rally at Rockland Community College. The reaction was sharp on social media, with linebacker Abdul Carter initially posting on X that he thought the situation was “AI” and questioning what the team was doing. Carter later deleted the post and said he and Dart had since spoken privately and resolved the issue, saying they had handled it “as men.”
Dart later addressed the criticism during Giants organized team activities, explaining that his decision to introduce Trump was based on respect for the office of the presidency rather than political support. He said he viewed the chance as a unique opportunity and emphasized his personal ties to the military. Dart said he has extended family members who served in wars and that two uncles retired from the Air Force Academy and served in the armed forces themselves.
The quarterback said he has always respected the presidency regardless of party affiliation and insisted that his intentions were not political. He acknowledged that politics can be sensitive and said he understands the responsibilities that come with being the Giants’ quarterback. Dart’s remarks were aimed at calming concerns after the rally appearance sparked discussion about whether the moment could create distractions inside the team.
Trump’s strong public support now adds another layer to the story, turning what began as a backlash over a political introduction into a broader conversation about sports, politics and leadership. While critics questioned Dart’s decision to appear at the event, Trump used the opportunity to elevate the quarterback’s image, framing him as both a promising athlete and a respectful young man with a bright future ahead.
