Jamie Lee Curtis Pays Tribute to Sister Kelly Curtis With Never-Before-Seen Photos After Her Death

Jamie Lee Curtis has paid tribute to her older sister, Kelly Curtis, following her death at age 69 by sharing a collection of never-before-seen black-and-white photos of the two siblings together on Instagram. In her post, Curtis recalled the closeness and complexity of their relationship, describing how they were bonded as children but also experienced the rivalry that can come with competing for attention in a divorced family. She wrote that although the sisters were “wildly different” and lived apart for many years, Kelly returned to be with her around the time of her wedding and “never really left again.”

Curtis said Kelly played a meaningful role in her life during difficult times, including a period when Kelly worked for her while she was “in between jobs,” eventually becoming part of her family structure. She expressed grief over the loss while also saying she was comforted by the thought that her sister was at peace.

Earlier that same day, Curtis had announced Kelly’s death in a separate Instagram post, calling her “my first friend and lifelong confidant.” She said Kelly died “this morning. In her home. In nature. At peace.” Curtis also remembered her sister as “jaw droppingly beautiful” and a talented actress. A cause of death has not been made public.

The post drew messages of support from several celebrities, including Jennifer Garner and Rita Wilson, who commented with words of sympathy and admiration for the family photos Curtis shared.

Kelly Curtis was the daughter of actors Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis and had a long connection to Hollywood through both family and her own work. Jamie Lee Curtis, an Oscar winner known for films including “Freaky Friday,” “Halloween,” and “True Lies,” has often spoken about her family and the lasting impact of her sister’s presence in her life. Her tribute highlighted not only Kelly Curtis’s beauty and talent, but also the deep personal bond the sisters shared over many decades.
