LCI Surges Ahead with David Pujadas as CNews Refuses to Back Down

On Monday, May 25, 2026, LCI’s 24H Pujadas led the channel’s news audience during the Pentecost holiday, with David Pujadas drawing 335,000 viewers between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., representing a 2.9% audience share. The program covered major international developments, including the war in Iran involving the United States and initial negotiations, as well as renewed heavy strikes on Ukraine by Moscow. The broadcast also featured a 7:15 p.m. interview with Philippe Aghion, the Nobel Prize-winning economist, alongside commentary from Ruth Elkrief, François Lenglet and Abnousse Shalmani. Several guests contributed analysis, including General Dominique Trinquand, diplomatic specialist Isabelle Lasserre, reporter and essayist Vincent Hugeux, and defense and international affairs journalist Jean-Dominique Merchet.
While LCI remained the leading channel across the full two-hour slot, the audience dipped compared with the previous Monday, when 24H Pujadas had attracted 412,000 viewers and a 3.6% share. The decline was attributed to strong competition from Roland-Garros and to the sunny holiday weather, which likely kept fewer people in front of their televisions. Even so, the program kept LCI firmly at the top of the evening news landscape for the start of the week.
CNews performed strongly in the second part of the evening, overtaking LCI after 7 p.m. with Face à l’info, hosted that day by Nelly Daynac in place of Christine Kelly. The show drew 414,000 viewers between 7:00 p.m. and 8:05 p.m., for a 3.2% audience share. This helped CNews stay highly competitive throughout the evening.
Earlier in the afternoon, Amélie Carroüer also delivered a solid result for LCI with Le Grand Dossier. Her program focused on the war in Iran, the pope’s speech, the killing of a child in Rennes and France’s historic heatwave. Airing from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., it attracted 216,000 viewers and a 2.7% share, slightly above the previous Monday’s audience of 214,000, though with a lower market share than the week before.
For the full day of May 25, 2026, LCI ended level with BFMTV at 2.3% audience share, while CNews finished ahead with 2.6%, confirming the channel’s strong performance on a holiday marked by lighter television viewing overall.
