EDF Archipel Guadeloupe said in a statement released at 6:50 a.m. on Sunday, June 14, 2026, that an incident on the electricity network has been affecting power supply for several customers in the commune of Le Gosier since 8:40 p.m. on Saturday evening, June 13, 2026. At the time of the announcement, about 1,500 customers were still without electricity, including residents and businesses in the La Marina area, around the Palais des sports, and in Bas-du-Fort.
According to the operator, the outage was caused by a fault in an underground cable. EDF said teams worked through the night to identify the source of the incident. The company added that its crews were able to precisely locate the origin of the outage during the night, allowing repair work to begin early in the morning.
EDF Archipel Guadeloupe said everything is being done to restore electricity as quickly as possible. The company also said it will continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
The outage disrupted electricity service across several parts of Le Gosier, one of the main communes in Guadeloupe. The affected areas include zones with residential buildings, tourism activity, and sports facilities, making the incident significant for both local residents and businesses. EDF did not immediately give a precise time for full restoration, but said repairs were underway and that the priority is to return service “as soon as possible.”
The network incident highlights the impact that a fault on a single underground cable can have on a large number of customers. While the source of the problem was identified overnight, the repair process was still ongoing at the time of the statement. EDF said it remained mobilized to resolve the issue and restore power under the best possible conditions.
As of the latest update issued Sunday morning, the outage remained active for part of the affected area, with around 1,500 customers still impacted. EDF Archipel Guadeloupe said it would communicate further once there was progress on the repair work and the gradual return of electricity service.
