Brighton agree Solly March exit as Newcastle and Everton join seven Premier League clubs in surprise transfer race

Newcastle United and Everton are among seven Premier League clubs interested in signing Solly March after Brighton & Hove Albion agreed to let the winger leave this summer. Brighton had the option to extend the 31-year-old’s contract by another year, but after talks between the club and March’s representatives, an agreement was reached for him to depart the Amex Stadium following more than a decade of service.
March’s exit would bring an emotional end to a highly successful Brighton career. He has made more than 300 appearances for the Seagulls and became one of the club’s most important modern-era players. His availability on a free transfer has already drawn strong interest from clubs in both the Premier League and Championship.
The winger is widely admired for his versatility, technical ability and top-flight experience. Known for having one of the most reliable left feet in the Premier League, March can play in several roles across defence, midfield and attack. That flexibility is seen as especially valuable by clubs looking to add experienced depth and quality this summer.
March is also fully fit again after recovering from knee surgery that affected part of his recent Brighton spell. That has increased his appeal to potential suitors, with several clubs viewing him as a low-risk, high-value signing.
Alongside Newcastle and Everton, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest and Fulham have also shown interest in a possible move. Newly promoted Coventry City and Ipswich Town are in the race as well, believing March could provide crucial Premier League-level experience as they prepare for life in the top flight.
There is also significant interest from the Championship. West Ham United and Wolves, both relegated and targeting an immediate return, are reported to be keen on adding March’s quality, professionalism and leadership to their squads. They see him as a statement signing who could bring creativity and consistency to their promotion bids.
Despite being 31, March remains highly regarded in the market because of his availability on a free transfer and his record of performing consistently at Premier League level. Those close to him believe he still has several years left at a high standard, and he is said to be carefully considering his options as interest grows.
For Brighton, his departure would close another meaningful chapter in the club’s recent rise. For the clubs chasing him, the chance to secure an experienced, versatile Premier League performer without a transfer fee is being viewed as one of the summer’s most attractive opportunities.
