Milwaukee Weather Forecast Calls for Showers and Storms Today

Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes that moved through Wisconsin earlier this week are not the end of the region’s wet weather, as Milwaukee faces another round of storms on Saturday, June 13, potentially affecting evening events and outdoor plans. Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop during the afternoon and may continue into the night, with the highest risk for severe weather centered between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service says a cold front stretching across the area is expected to move slowly toward the I-94 corridor later in the day, with thunderstorms likely developing as the front advances. Meteorologist Michaela Heeren said the front should begin impacting the Milwaukee area around 4 p.m. or 5 p.m., and because the system is moving slowly, the city could see repeated waves of scattered storms between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. The greatest threat for severe weather is expected in the early evening, especially from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., when gusty winds and hail are most likely.

The weather could affect several weekend events, including the Summer Soulstice Festival on Milwaukee’s east side, which begins at noon and runs until midnight. Ryan Laessig, director of the East Side Business Improvement District 20, said the event is intended to operate rain or shine, but organizers would need to shut it down if lightning develops. He also said hail would trigger a closure for safety reasons. Even with the potential for weather disruptions, he said the group is still expecting a strong turnout and hopes conditions remain manageable.

Along with the storm risk, Milwaukee will experience warm and humid conditions during the day, with temperatures reaching about 83 degrees. Conditions are expected to cool sharply after sunset, with an overnight low near 57 degrees.

The forecast brings a temporary break on Sunday, June 14, when mostly clear skies and cooler weather are expected across the city. After a stormy stretch earlier in the week, the weekend outlook suggests that Milwaukee may still need to monitor changing conditions closely, especially during the afternoon and evening hours on Saturday.
