Social Security Minister and INSS President Outline Priorities for New Institute Employees

The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) in Brazil welcomed 48 new civil servants on Thursday, June 11, during an orientation event at its Central Administration focused on aligning priorities, responsibilities, and work processes across the agency. The group includes professionals from a wide range of fields, such as engineering, occupational therapy, administration, accounting, law, statistics, psychology, and information technology. All were approved through Brazil’s National Unified Public Competition and will work at the INSS headquarters in Brasília.

The event was attended by Social Security Minister Wolney Queiroz, INSS President Ana Cristina Silveira, and representatives from the institute’s main directorates. The new employees are expected to strengthen the organization and help improve public services delivered to Brazilian citizens.

In his welcome remarks, Queiroz stressed the importance of Social Security in the lives of the population and said preserving the institution’s credibility is a shared responsibility. He said the engagement and dedication of employees are essential for efficient, proactive, and effective management, and emphasized that the INSS must serve the Brazilian people with seriousness, honesty, and integrity.

Silveira also addressed the new staff, underscoring the importance of support roles within the agency and how they contribute to the institution’s goals and to the quality of services provided to the public. She encouraged the newcomers to maintain their enthusiasm throughout their careers in public service, saying that motivation is especially valuable in an institution responsible for delivering rights to the population.

Yveline Barretto Leitão, the INSS director of People Management, noted that this is the first time in more than a decade that the Central Administration has received new civil servants, with the last intake occurring in 2013. She said the institution had been eagerly awaiting their arrival and expressed satisfaction at finally welcoming them.

For the new employees, the orientation served as both a practical introduction and a symbolic milestone. Janete Muniz, one of the newly appointed servants, said the reception showed how well they were being welcomed and described the moment as an important opportunity to understand the scale and relevance of the institution they are joining. She said the meeting deepened their knowledge of the agency and reinforced their commitment to public service.

Other participants included directors responsible for governance, planning and innovation; benefits and citizen relations; budget, finance and logistics; as well as the INSS chief legal officer, internal affairs head, and chief auditor. The event marked a significant moment for the agency as it integrates new talent after an extended gap in hiring at the Central Administration.
