Michael Jordan Headlines Star-Studded Guest List at Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City Farewell Party

Manchester City supporters filled the streets of Manchester on Monday to give Pep Guardiola a final farewell as the club marked the end of a highly successful era. The men’s, women’s and academy teams were paraded by bus to the Etihad Stadium, where large crowds gathered to celebrate their trophy-winning seasons before the party continued at Co-op Live. All three teams appeared on stage to honor their victories, while City women’s forward Khadija Shaw delivered a major surprise by announcing a new four-year contract that will keep her at the club.

The event also served as a celebration of Guardiola’s legacy, with his three children joining former captain Fernandinho, ex-sporting director Txiki Begiristain and goalkeeper Ederson among those helping present all 20 trophies won during his time in charge. The crowd greeted surprise appearances from Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany and midfielder Jack Grealish with loud cheers.

Guardiola used a final interview with Oasis star Noel Gallagher to thank the club and its supporters. He said the turnout showed the strength of the connection between Manchester City and its fans, and expressed deep gratitude to chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, club staff and supporters who had backed him from the beginning. He added that the club would remain in his heart forever.

The evening also included tributes to captain Bernardo Silva and defender John Stones, who are both expected to leave Manchester City when their contracts expire this summer. Striker Erling Haaland praised both players and Guardiola on stage, describing Silva and Stones as outstanding footballers and even better people, while acknowledging the challenge the club faces as it looks ahead. He said the team’s journey had been remarkable but stressed the need to keep pushing and fighting as City prepares for a new chapter without several key figures.
