Jason Segel is looking ahead to marriage and, eventually, fatherhood. The 46-year-old actor, best known for How I Met Your Mother, said during a Shrinking Emmy FYC event on June 6 that things are going well with his fiancée, Kayla Radomski, and that he can imagine starting a family one day. “It’s all going great,” he said. “I’m with the best person in the world.” When asked about having children, Segel joked that he expects to have “a real weird kid,” describing the imagined child as “moody, creative, puppet-y.”
Segel and Radomski, a dancer and actress, have been together since 2023. The couple became engaged in June 2025, when Radomski shared the news on Instagram with a post celebrating the proposal and writing, “FOREVER YES 💍♥️.” Since then, the pair have been planning their wedding.
In April, Segel shared more details about the proposal during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. He said he proposed at a botanical garden in Pasadena, a place he had already associated with peaceful walks and an early date with Radomski. To keep the engagement a surprise, Segel devised an elaborate cover story, telling Radomski that he was too busy with filming Shrinking to get engaged until after production wrapped. He later extended the lie by inventing a fictional donor dinner at the gardens, claiming that the mayor and the Los Angeles Times would be there.
The actor admitted that he struggled to keep the ruse believable, but it worked long enough for the surprise to stay intact. When the couple arrived at Huntington Gardens, Segel said the venue staff played along and welcomed them as if they were guests at the donor dinner, even though the event had been arranged after hours for the proposal.
Segel said his goal was to make the moment unforgettable and measure his success by whether Radomski cried. At first, he only got “one tear,” but once the string quartet he had arranged began playing, she became emotional and the proposal turned into the kind of moment he had hoped for.
The actor, who has never been married before, has previously been linked to Michelle Williams and Linda Cardellini, according to Us Weekly.
