Lizzo Criticizes TikTok for “Hating” on Her New Album

Lizzo has publicly criticized TikTok and her record label amid concerns over the rollout of her new album, B-TCH. In a recent video shared on the platform, the singer said TikTok was acting like a “hater” by allegedly limiting recommendations for posts promoting the project, even as other lighter clips from her account appeared to circulate more widely. She urged fans to support the album and said she wanted the music to reach the audience that follows her.
The new album, released only days ago, includes the singles “Don’t Make Me Love U” and “B-TCH.” Despite the release, Lizzo suggested the project has not received the level of promotion she expected. She said that when she posted about the album on her private page, the content became “ineligible for recommendation,” while other casual content reportedly performed better on the app. Her comments were framed as frustration over what she sees as a pattern of uneven treatment on the platform.
This is not the first time Lizzo has spoken out about the campaign behind the album. Earlier this year, she accused Atlantic Records of failing to properly support the release and claimed the label was not putting enough marketing money behind her ideas. She later repeated those concerns in TikTok posts, saying she had approved billboards and ads but was still seeing little response from the label’s marketing efforts.
Online reaction to Lizzo’s promotional posts has been mixed, with some viewers mocking the album’s performance and others defending the singer’s efforts. One recent TikTok showing her illuminating a billboard for the album drew criticism from commenters who made jokes about low sales and streaming numbers. Similar responses followed her latest post, with some users questioning the album’s rollout while others encouraged her to keep promoting the project.
On social media, Lizzo has continued to push the album, telling fans that she is not a “stream queen” but is still a hitmaker. She said the promotional campaign is only beginning and urged her supporters to keep listening to the songs. In a separate interview, Lizzo explained that the album is meant to reflect a process of reclaiming her identity. Rather than redefining herself, she said the project allows her to take back parts of her image that were shaped by others and present her own version of the story.
The album marks Lizzo’s fifth studio release and arrives at a time when she appears determined to defend both the music and the campaign around it.
